I'm changing the oil pan and gasket. I twisted the old sensor out without disconnecting but it really twisted the wire. I wanted to disconnect it before installing into the new pan, then reconnect the wire.

That sensor should swivel freely.
Meaning the nut part turns independantly of the center part with the wire.
So the wire doesn't twist when your wrenching

Thanks L&M and 93_ChargedCobra_342. Gave it a good tug and the wire came out of the sensor. Once everything was all cleaned up I saw the snap clip in the groove. I was wondering why the sendor had that groove in it.
