Guys,

So, I "acquired" a 90 LX 5.0 that is not in the greatest condition. It doesn't have the original engine however the engine installed is a 5.0 from a 92 (according to the previous owner). I have had taken ownership of the car less than a month ago and I am deciding whether to sell it or build it up as a hobby/street car. I ran an OBD1 on the car this evening and received a poop ton of codes (KOEO: 23, 31, 31c, 91c) and (KOER 21, 23, 91, 31, 13). But the most confusing thing was the scanner read the engine as a 6 cylinder. Has anyone had any experience with this? I will check the ECU but I am pretty sure it's an A9l. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Pre OBD 2, as there is no OBD 1, was never universal

aftermarket code readers, are really never accurate on ID.

There is a code reader specific to EEC-IV and EEC-V Fords. It is about 40$ if ya aint already got it. Comes with a book of what the codes mean.
