Hi Folks,

I plan to get new wheels and tires (within the next 5K miles or so) for my 2002 gt vert. I'd like to stick with 17" rims, but wouldn't mind moving to a 9" width (and wider tires).

My question is...are 9" rims OK for the front (without modifying the fender well?). I noted on a recent Horsepower TV, they opted for 8" rims up front, and 9" in the rear. The problem here would be that I'd like to be able to rotate the tires.

If nine inch up front is OK, what is the best tire size? Thanks for your thoughts!

There are millions of Mustangs out there with Cobra R rims and 03 Cobra rims... They are anywhere from 17x9 to 18x9.

Like the other guys said, 9" rims will do just fine.

I wouldn't go any wider than a 275 in the front. Maybe a 255 or 265 with 275 on the rears or you could go with all the same size for ease of tire rotation.

Here's some pics with 245's all around on 17"x9" rims:

Folks,

Thanks for the feedback! Looks like 9 inch rims will not be a problem.
