As pathetic as it sounds, I am just now learning how to drive a manual. As I was learning, I noticed a good amount of smoke coming out. When I parked it, it was still smoking. I guess I am just slipping it way too much. I seem to remember that it revs the motor a little more when maintaining the same speed (could be wrong, but I think thats what was happening). Is my clutch dead or dying? Help!

What does the smoke smell like? A burning clutch has a very unique smell.

Where is you clutch pedal "action". If it's real close to the top it may just need adjusting. But if you're smoking the clutch it's probably glazed-over and possibly gone.

If your pedal action is OK - closer to the floor than the top - try punching it in like 3rd gear and see if you hear it slipping (reving higher.) If that's the case it's probably pretty shot...

Or just take it out on the highway in fifth gear and punch the gas - if your tach moves and your spedo doesn't, you need a clutch.
