hi everyone,
i just bought a 90gt and i have about 1500 to put into the engine. i was wondering what you guys think would be some good mods to start with.
the only things i dont want to do yet is internal engine work or rear gears.

and also if you guys could give me some good links as the where to buy the stuff.

one more thing... how much gain do you think i would get from a gt-40 intake manifold on a pretty much stock engine??? (i have a lil bet going with a buddy)
thanks everyone

pulleys, exhaust, short belt, shifter or shift kit if its aod

Cobra Intake on a stock motor is a waste of cash, but if you really want one get it

The first thing I would do is a gear. The very next thing I would do is a complete exhaust system, from the engine to the bumper. K&N filter, a complete Tune-up also (using premium parts). That'll get you started.

I think the GT40 intake is only gonna add maybe 10 horses on an otherwise stock engine. The heads are too restrictive too see the full benefits of the intake. Save your money on that until later.

thank you for the advice.
hehe my friend ows me 10$ for the intake bet.

ok heres what ive come up with so far:
MAC intake
flowmasters
h-pipe
equal lenth headers
pro 5.0 shifter
frpp 3.55 gears
steeda pulleys
electric fan

sound like a good start? anything i should take off and replace it with something else?

Go with longtube headers, they are more work to install but well worth the money.

I wouldn't but a mac intake, but that's just me. Edelbrock, Trick Flow and FMS all make good intakes.

Skip the 3.55's and go with at least 3.73's, 4.10's if you plan to keep it Naturally Aspirated. I have run both 3.73's and 4.10's in my daily driver for over two years.

As far as the intake goes, on stock heads you will see a minimal gain. If you plan on heads in the near future, then go for it.

AS far as the exhaust goes, I also recommend long tube headers along with and x-pipe or Pro-Chamber, then a good cat back 2.5" system.

Do a full tune-up, plugs, wires, dist. cap, bump timing, K & N. I also suggest you invest in an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, this will allow you to fine-tune your fuel pressure to help maximize your combo.

Swap out all your vital fluids with synthetics (engine, tranny, rear-end)

Pulley's are a worthwhile mod.

With an electric fan, you'll more than likely have to upgrade your altenator to the 3G unit, something to keep in mind.

Definitely get a shifter, if nothing else it's cheap insurance for the tranny.

Hope this helps!!

well i want 3.55 rather then 3.73s or 4.10s becuase i still like my high end speed and i think when i launch with higher gears i will spin my tires more.

well if i have to upgrade the alternator then maybe i wont get an electric fan. what about a flex fan?

i appreciate all the advice guys
