Well I ran my car on et streets this past sat. I was comming out from 5500 to 6000 and still bogged on every pass.

me driving shifting at 6k:

60' - 1.64
330 - 4.91
1/8 - 7.65 @ 90.19
1/4 - 12.04 @ 108.29

1.63
4.90
7.65 @ 89.81
12.28 @ 107.54 (missed 4th)

friend driving short shifting:

60' - 1.66
330 - 4.99
1/8 - 7.77 @ 88.51
1/4 - 12.21 @ 110.87

1.66
4.98
7.76 @ 88.74
12.18 @ 111.16

How is it that he had more mph short shifting and I got the better et taking it up harder? Also I cracked both torque boxes on the last run, what do I need to do for this to be fixed?

You sixtied quicker than he did. I hate to tell you this, but the run you missed fourth could have likely been an eleven second run! When your shifting gets more crisp, you should be able to run elevens. A 4.10 gear would also help, but it could throw your sixty foot time off if your chassis isn't set up to take that hard of a hit to the tires.....James

OK. I just reread your post. Him shortshifting and getting a better trap speed is an indication you are spinning the motor too high. It's making more power being shifted at whatever RPM your friend was shifting at. The fact that you had a better ET is because you sixtied quicker. Did your friend spin out of the hole? Usually the trap speed will increase a couple MPH from a little wheel spin. If he didn't spin, then the power came from the different shift points....James

If you are bogging coming out of the hole at 5500-6000 RPM's then you would definitely benefit from 4.10's. What size slick are you using? James

I am using a 26x11.5x15 et streets. You said my chasis is not set of for the hard hits, what do i need to do for that? He didnt spin out of the hole, on every run it bogged. I would like a 4.10 but I dont know if that will be to much with nitrous.

Well, if you're going to spray it, then I'd say leave the 3.73's in there. You can't have the best of both worlds. So, obviously you'll have to put up with slightly slower times on the motor to get good times on the bottle. Otherwise you may run out of gear. How much are you going to spray it and what kind of RPM can your motor turn? James

Well when I do get the kit I will be spraying 150 - 200. I still have the factory rev limiter so I cant take it up to high.

With 3.73's and a 26" tire, 6200 RPM's is 129 MPH. With 4.10's and a 26" tire, 6200 RPM's is 117 MPH. I think you should be in the neighborhood of low to mid 120's with the nitrous depending on how well the cam is setup for the spray.....James

Redrumpony - the cam is the one Holley sent with the kit. It is not that big, only like .509 lift.

Yeah I know, I was really want to get into the 11's that night. I just need to get the shift points down to help with the mph.

I am curious about the 1/4 mph. Seems kinda low compared to 1/8 mph. With 89-90 mph in the 1/8, I would expect to see 112-114 1/4.

In comparison, I ran 7.6's at 88 mph in the 1/8 and 12.0's at 112 in the 1/4. This was with low 1.6 60's on DR's.

Hey James, how about alittle credit on the ported heads(LOL!)? Your car has alot left in it, and I think 11.8's are very possible in the future. Weld up those box's, and see about a dyno tune for it. Then I'd be looking into maybe another cam, and maybe more gear. Maybe a stupid question, but are you planning on running in True Street, in Atlanta this year?

Later, Greg(XSR)

92coupelx, Nice times with that mild combo. For the torque box reinforcement issue I recommend the lower reinforcements that Stangman393 makes.
