I want to get a set, but can't decide between the 25mm or the 30mm.

i don't know how many inches those mm's equal up to, but i had 1.5 inch spacers on my rear wheels, and it made my stock 17X8 wheels stick out as if they were 10 inches wide. they sat flush with my wheel well

The 25mm are 1" and the 30mm are 1-3/16"...

I was going to get 30mm, but they were indefinitely backordered (H&R). So I picked up the 25's. I'm very happy with them -- I'm glad they're only 25, because even so they have a tendency to throw stuff up on the quarter panel. Any wider and it'd be even worse.

And that's another question I was gonna ask... how much gunk gets flipped up on the quarters then with these added...

How long ago was that? That's the ones I was looking at (H&R).

It rains a fair amount where I live, and the quarter panel is always the dirtiest part of the car. It really depends on where you live, and where you drive. If you have a lot of dirt and mud around, it'll get flung all over the place. I also notice that going down the freeway, I have discs of water flinging out the back

Mud flinging aside, I like the 25's well enough to keep them. Just temporary anyway, until I wear out these tires and pick up some Cobra R rims.

Well she doesn't get driven in the rain if I can help it... although last year I got caught in more damn storms!

But it's not a daily, and I try to only hit paved roads. Thanks for the info.

I don't know if you'd do this or not but there are mud flaps for your car that look pretty good IMO

I don't know if I'd do that or not either!

I got 'em on, and they look fabulous, but I can almost gaurentee they aided in the new rock chips I found in my hood :shrug: Who knows?

I'm guessing you'd have to drill holes for the mud flaps...?

Any alignment or reliabilty issues with using these? What is the biggest benifit to running them on a late model mustang? Any track or autocross times to back them up? Thanks this is a mod I have been thinking about for a while.

I am using 35mm ( 1 1/4 inches) spacers from Crow Automotive Products. They really make the rear wheels look correct on my 98.

I believe its more appearance preference than anything else, but widening the wheel base should give better lateral stability while cornering.

and there should not be any alignment or reliability issuses with them. I'm getting rid of mine since i just put my new 18x10 rear wheels on.

They (rear spacers) would be only for looks. Adding width to the rear adds rear bite, which causes even more understeer or "push" than we already have. For handling, we don't need more rear bite, we need more front bite. It's the fronts that need to be made wider (for handling), not the rears. But it does look nice to fill up those rear wheel wells, even it that's the exact opposiite of what we should be doing (for handling).

I like the looks of my 18X8.5 front wheels, and 18X10 rears which gives it that wide rear look, but it didn't help with handling at all.

Its called power oversteer my friend. You have a Sean Hyland long block, use it! My friend just got one for his 99 cobra, and man its awesome, especially with the 12+ psi he's pushing.

SLVR...I'm mostly talking about stock suspension set ups etc. But you are correct ...if I had the skill to corner with the throttle, rear end hanging out, point and go, ... like the dirt trackers. That would be fun.
