I need some help!!
I have a 79 Notch 2600# w/302 non rollor, Edelbrock heads, 1.6 comp cams rollor rockers, mid range comp cam, full length tube headers, 4.10 gears, C-4 with stock converter, 600 vac. holley carb, alum single plane manifold, runs 12.45 at 107 best.
Here is my question, I just bought a new MSD dist. and want to know which springs and bushings I should run? What is the most total timing I should try? Which bushing and which springs?
Please help asap as I am going to the strip tomorrow.

George

probaly not very techically sound becasue I don't kmow what your initial timing is, but I always throw in the two lightest springs and I leave the bushing in that came with it. It brings in all the timing before 3000 which is what you should be shooting for.

I would try the two lightest springs or just one light spring and nothing on the other....

As for setting the timing, I dont set base timing...
I believe it is best to set total timing
Rev it up till you are fully advanced and set it about 34-36 total advance...
This should get you started, play with it a little till you get best performance... If you get spark knock just back it off a little and redrive.

Thanks guys, That is what I wanted to know!:D
I will shoot for 36 Total and the lightest springs, and see what I have got.
Thanks again, George
