Manual rack Qs

I have a blue notch similar to RTZ but not yet as clean!

Anyway, I bought a manual rack from Kragen and I notice the input spline is smaller than my old power steering rack. Anybody know a way to adapt this to my steering shaft or do I need purchase a different rack? This is the one listed in the book for an '85 Mustang with manual steering.

Also, any ideas or photos about mounting an idler pulley or the tensioner where the PS pump used be? I see that RTZ has cobbled something up but the photos are blurry.

Thanks guys.

jumping on this one, eh?

Ok, found good info in the archives. The key is too use the proper manual rack flange from a manual rack car or get part number D9BZ3A525A at about $30 from the dealer.

Alternatively, there is Flaming River PN 1604 for $72.

So that's covered.

Here's another question. What are the proper tie rod ends to use? I understand the Flaming River ones are WAY too short and the stock ones may be slightly too short as well. Anybody resolve this issue or just run fewer threads into the tie rod end?

Thanks.

Nick (soon talking to myself as well)
