Good afternoon, Everyone!

It has been stupid busy here. Between running all over for work and then getting both boys to their games all weekend, I am exhausted. Not to mention the gas price really making things more expensive. For example, we get to drive to Westfield 4 days in a row this week.

Looks like everyone else is feeling the hit, but at least it is summer and the weather is good.

BTW, I have the JaxWax foam cannon set up for my pressure washer. It works pretty well, but nothing beats a good ol' hand wash.

Been looking at buying either a smart car or used BMW i3 $12k or less. for my parents to use when visiting. Right now they drive here a few times a year, it really taxs them, this way if they fly out, they would have a car. Plus they are small, I can put it on short side of garage. The i3 has 4 seat capability

Good morning all.

Went to the Sugar Factory downtown. It was cool, but super pricey. I don't even want to know the calorie count from last night. It's probably a big hit with teenage girls because there is pink everywhere and posing stations for selfies and whatnot.

What are you doing at the sugar daddy factory. :D
Shhhhhhh, it's our little secret.

Good morning all.

Not sure we are going to win this fight with the mega warehouse. It won't affect us as much as our neighbors, but literally the entire town of Acton will be at risk for major flooding if it goes in. Just sad to see so much greed dominate over people's homes. Most of Acton's residents are well below the poverty line, so they have no ability to fight this thing. I'm doing what I can though.

I figured you were there wearing your leather fighter jacket and Ray-Ban sunglasses signing autographs as Tim Cruise, again. Tom's much older brother

Except that I'm younger than him, and much taller. Dude's a midget.

Does then new warehouse not have a retention pond as part of the site plan?
Yes, but they are building it in a flood plain where there are very high water tables, springs and aquifers. There is a million square foot warehouse that was built literally a few hundred feet from where this one will be located, and it is already flooding everyone around it, and it too has massive retention ponds. There's simply too much groundwater for retention ponds to be effective. I'm not sure it's going to matter though, and people who have no flood insurance will lose their homes.

So that swale in the lower left is from the existing mega warehouse, and the new one would sit exactly above where that swale is.

Interesting. My personal opinion is that Civil Engineers are the dumbest of all Engineers, but usually you can control the flow OUT of the retention pond with weirs, and restricted outfall structures.

I am biased, I dont care for all the new big mega warehouses being built EVERYWHERE, or the extensive highway work going on EVERYWHERE. They are sucking the concrete plants dry and are causing issues with the "traditional" construction going on like what we do (schools, government buildings, hospitals, etc.).

Good morning all.

Yes Stev-0 the mega-warehouses are going up everywhere. I-70 and Mount Comfort, and now down in Greenwood. It's insane. They just put one up right next to a bunch of $500k homes in Greenwood. Sad that the local governments are so greedy for tax money, with which to wield more power, that they ignore common sense and allow these monstrosities to be built near residential areas.

I hope my 26 year old A/C unit doesn't decide to finally give up the ghost this week. Yikes!

My lady Sooners softball team won another National Title. Never followed women's softball until a few years ago, but geez, it is impressive what they can do on the field. I played softball in a few church leagues and lawyer leagues and it was always fun and I was pretty good, but watching these women is just amazing. I would have never hit any of their pitches.

You complained for weeks it too cold, now it's too hot, calm down Goldilocks

Brian,, hire a 100 year flood specialist, it's what developers do when they want land for cheap. It will show moderate to max flood conditions based on geographic area.

At least your area was notified. The warehouse near us broke ground before neighborhood was notified. Town counsel already been wine and dine, multiple rounds of golf, they were useless.

Now the new brewery restaurant at end of street, not having issue. Well the people who will look out back window will. But if you buy next to a lot zoned for business , you roll the dice

Good morning all.

Chris, we only got notice because the land is not currently zoned for light industrial and the law requires that anytime you want to rezone land you must notify any adjacent landowners. Otherwise, I'm certain we would not have gotten notice.

I think we had an otter in our pond eating all our fish. My son saw what he was pretty sure was an otter near sundown the other day. Apparently they can eat like 30 lbs. of fish a day. So, now I need to add otter to my hunting list along with the beaver and racoons.

Otters are my favorite animal

I wonder if Steve's car has been reshaped by the sun, since it is plastic and probably melts.

I think your right Steve, after this past week of being stuck in traffic after work. I don't think I want a stick as a daily. Camaro will stay as a alternate. But I am thinking getting a jeep for a daily, I was looking at used f150 shortness with a 5.0. But wholly cow, right now they are crazy expensive used
