On a whim just bought this. $13k Resto mod is the plan. Either an 03-04 cobra engine & trans or a late model coyote. TBD. Paint will be King Cobra, red or black. Haven't decided yet. Doing it over winter. Not a long term project. I know it's a lot of money to invest in a Mustang 2 but building for me & not resale.

Personally, i would keep the factory paint color. All of them I see are red, black or white. I've never seen orange and i prefer colors that are less common but that's just me. A Coyote would be a cool engine to see in it. When i was in high school i knew a guy with a 351c in one and it was pretty fast. 450+ hp in a car that small and light would be a blast to drive. Good luck and make sure to come back with updated pictures.

Very sweet! There’s something about a black King Cobra (with that gorgeous gold hood decal) I’ve always loved, a neighbour a few houses up from me as a kid used one as his daily and I found myself always checking it out. he bought it brand new and was only a couple of years old when I started to take notice.

I love the Mustangll. I would keep it similar or the same. Black Cobra is nice if you have a ton of money to spend. Once again though never think the M Two is a less than. They are becoming impossible to find in good condition

Could be interesting. If you really want to make a Mustang II look right, move the front axle centerline forward 3-4". Really the only thing wrong with them visually in my opinion. They don't look bad otherwise and even the interior looks pretty decent on them.

Moving the crossmember forward might even help fitting the new engine. And since you are doing body works, moving the wheel well openings is not as expensive as it might usually be.

Well I think I've already convinced myself to go with a 347 carbed just for ease of installation. Nothing appears to be straight forward with a mod motor into this car & I don't want to hack anything up.

Back in 2010 almost bought a King Cobra here for $10k in excellent shape. Man, have times changed.

You know you could just buy some 190 11R Trick flow heads, custom cam and intake/carb to match.

Put that on a stock bottom end 302 and it will make Coyote 5.0 power levels. For way cheaper than anything else you could potentially do unless you want to do a Stroker with an aftermarket block then the price keeps going higher from there.

I am. Thoughts have changed. I'm gonna put $50k into this thing & go full restomod. Too much money to go half ass, so all in. Ford Performance 363 stroker is the engine choice & will have Holley fuel injection up top. $14,000ish in total with ignition.

My uncle told me my parents (deceased) had this paint scheme, brand new, so this is what I am going with.

Changed mind. My choice is white & gold King Cobra like the diecast. 100% sure now. Interior will be black & white. Wheels will be gold lace style.

Whichever King Cobra you settle in with, they are all awesome! The lil Mustang ll deserves respect. It kept the name alive during a bad time for performance cars in American history! Lemme toss this out just for you to noodle around on... How about either using Ruby Red or the really pretty looking blue Ford has out now on it with the gold King Cobra graphics?? Just a thought... The powerplant is gnna be really gnarly in that Lil ride! It's gnna be a beast that's for sure!!

So I have an engine. Ran into this on ebay. It has the Dart Pro 1 2.02 heads. Here is what he had to say.

302 / 363ci SBF For sale is a complete Small Block Ford Dart Engine. Dart Pro 1 It has a Dart SHP iron block, 4.125 bore. 8.2 deck. 4340 H beam rods, Probe pistons & Forged crank. Included are the following: Speedmaster rockers, Holley Sniper EFI, Demon 650 carb, Pertronix Billet Distributor, windage tray, Boss 302 oil pan and the various other parts pictured. ALL PARTS ARE NEW, NEVER RUN! The engine has never had oil in the pan. This was built for a 1966 Mustang. The owner passed away before the car was finished $9000

Did you buy it? What did it come with Holley Sniper EFI or the demon carb. Couple red flags from the picture, but I'll let someone with more knowledge point those out.
