the only number/letter combo i saw when i took the valve cover off was something like 3DW, or something like taht. and it also had a W, and 351 in other spots. didnt see any long combos, so can anyone help me to identify these heads?? thanks, steve.

i think thats what it says at least, im goin from a pic i took then zoomed in.

3D5 would make more sense. There is a date code on the head under the valve cover. The code is in a YMD fashion. Meaning......

0-9=19#0-19#9
A-L=January-December
1-31=day of month

So, it looks like your date code says that those heads were manufactured in 19#3 in March on the 5th.

whoaaa....

whats the #??? like what year would it be, 1973, 83, thanks, steve. also, where else is the number i should be looking for, on the side of the head?

Oh, and if it says 351 and a W, it's a 351W head. Which should have 1/2" head bolt holes.

Yup, I don't know how you would tell which decade they were from.

It should have a marking like C9OE, D4OE, or E5OE. That would mean that those heads are 1969, 1974, and 1985 heads. Look for some type of marking like that.
