just got a 90 notchback, has 159 k miles, and i plan on going with a edelbrock rpm performer 2 intake, rpm heads, x cam, tremec 3550 yada yada. just how tough is the block? i here a lot of people sying just freshening the block with rings and bearings is enuff if the block is in good shape, whats your opinions

sounds like your building a motor thats gonna be high strung, the problem with stock blocks is high rpm kills them(along with detonation). the stock bottom end will hold up but not to sustained high rpm abuse, i wouldnt take it above 6200 too often(gotta get around the limiter too) but at the least do as others have told you and freshen it up but be warned the stock rods are a weak link at high rpm.
