i am looking at a set of heads to buy and i do not know if they are gt-40 or gt 40p is there any distinctions or differences to tell the difference i mean this guy saies that they are gt 40 but he is known to pull a slick on thanks david
The P's have "P" cast all over (GTP, too). Under the valve cover and on the lower right corners (if I remember correctly). I went to look at an Explorer motor with the same uncertainty you are expressing. When you see the heads, it will be evident. The P's also have smaller 1.46 exhaust valves to the GT40's 1.54.
to tell the difference between the two just below one of the exhaust ports it says gt or gtp. or The four bars on the side face of the head mark this as a P casting. The standard GT-40 head will have 3 bars located here.
