Just curious...wondering how hot is too hot? Running the AC during this Oklahoma heat wave, my '90 LX has been hitting 200 degrees sitting at stoplights. When it does this, I take it easy on the car and don't flog it. Is it alright to see the temps rise that high or should I shut off the AC when it gets that hot?

200* is not bad at all. Most cars come with a 195* thermostat because they run most efficiently at those temps (195-200*). HTH

yea, 200 is perfectly fine. 240 would be "LOOK OUT" time!

take care,

What they said. Aluminum heads shouldn't be any different as they dissipate heat faster, though they are more vulnerable to warpage. 200 isn't a problem. Over here in Turkey, I've seen 230 with the A/C on. Only problem I have when hot, is I have to listen closely for detonation, since the 92 octane they advertise over here is anything but....
