How hard to change valve seals with the heads still on the car? I have an air compressor.

If you have an air compressor, that'll help...depending on how long, or if ever the valves have been disassembled will dictate how much of a mother it is....

varnish can make the keepers a pain to release, sometimes a good smack with a socket over the retainer will help break them loose. then use your spring compressor...

air can work but if the valve moves down when you push it down to remove the keepers, you'll fight it to come apart. Another option is to feed like 12" of rope into the cylinder your working on, roll the motor over by hand til it stops....thats the rope hitting your valves...this can be a bigtime help for holding the valve solidly in place, or up, while you remove the spring/keeper...do your work on that cylinder, BACK the motor up, remove your rope, hit the next one.

I used this spring compressor both in and off the car....30.00 or less at a parts store...worst part of in the car is to keep the valve solidly up in the seat...its more time consuming, but hey, just think of the money you'll save...

hope that helps???
