Can you tell by looking at them when you take the engine apart?

Another question: What engine parts do I need to take to the machine shop to 0 deck the block?

have the machine shop measure the inside diameter of the big hole on the rod to see if it needs machining.

To deck the block you should tourque down the main caps to spec to put a load on the block. Thats all I can think of. If you want to save a couple hundred dollars on something that might not need to be done just polish the crank and install new bearings in the stock rods. But if you install arp rod bolts then allign honing the rods becomes manditory. And you should take everything to the machine shop to have hot tanked. Dont hot tank any nut and bolts that you plan on re-using though.

I asked the guy at the machine shop about the 0 deck and he said he needed the rods and pistons?

Does he want them just so he wont mill the pistons out of the hole?

I dont have my new pistons yet.
