I am putting a C4 in my '98 V6. Here is where I'm at:

http://www.v6power.net/images/gaston/tranny/tranny11.jpg

The green line in this pic shows the middle of the 4r70w
crossmember. The mount pad on my 4r70w sat on this line.
The C4 mount pad is up further. I heard I should grind the
welds and move the crossmember bolt holes forward. That
cannot be done on my crossmember. Should I buy a 5-speed
4.6 crossmember or a 4r70w 4.6 crossmember to cut & slide?

Does anyone have a pic of what the crossmember looks like
after modification? Will an 80's mustang c4 crossmember work?

It looks like you could drill out the spot welds on the crossmember mounting brackets and re-weld them slighly further to the front. I can't see a 4.6 crossmember doing you any good, but then again, I never put a C4 in a V6. Just out of curiousity, why are you using a C4 in a V6 car anyway?

Move the mounting brackets themselves, hmmmm thats not a
bad idea I will look into that.

Cuz 4r70w's are heavy expensive POS's :) C4 was a cheaper
lighter stronger alternative.
