hey guys....

I have a 88GT with 5spd.. 100k miles..... completely stock..

I just tuned it up with plugs, wires, rotor, cap..... and air filter...

it is still speed density...

The car seems not to have great power down low end, and "POPS" out the intake when you hit it with the RPMs low, then it pulls good through the mid range... 2800-4500.. then after 4500-4800 it dies... falls flat on its face, the rpms surge a bit, almost like it hits a rev limiter, but by the way it feels you can obviously tell there is something not right....

at idle the timing is right... but I don't know if there is slack in the timing chain that could cause this...

what do you think my problem is?

thanks

I'm guessing it started this before the tune up. Try fuel filter.

Slack in timing chain

Any "slack" in timing chain should be seen when timing light is used. It should show up as spark scatter. The light will not be steady on the mark , instead it will rapidly jump or "jitter" as you try to set it.\
If the problems came about after the tune-up check the order of the plug wires it sounds like the firing order is wrong! Two wires may be switched.

Good Luck

lemme re-phrase that.. it didn't happen after the tune up... before the tune up it ran like a Piece of ****

then after it got a little better... but not good

will try a new fuel filter
