I guess you would have already double checked the threads to make ensure they are the same. I was a tool and die apprentice for a couple of years (cardiac cath lab radiographer now, forgotten most tool&die stuff) and the easiest way I remember to check the pitch on the threads is to lock the threads from each lever into each other. If the threads stay intertwined all the way down they are the same if the don't match all the way you have a different pitch on the new one. If this isn't the problem try chasing the threads in the column with a tap. Hope you figure it out- Jack
