My 4.10s are going in tonite and I remember reading something about leaving the dampner off? Should I tell my install guy to do this or not? I believe the reason was to avoid vibration.

I have FRPP 4.10s and he is going to use Mobil 1 gear oil w/ friction modifier.

01LaserRed5,

Yup, that's what it's for, dampening out vibration.

When I went with 3.73's I had it removed. I've got 4.10's now, and in either case, did not notice anything amiss except that with the 3.73's, my driveline vibrated a lot at about 100mph. I attribute that more to the fact that it's spinning faster with the new gears and less to the absence of the dampener.

The FRPP aluminum driveline solved that problem.

Leave it on, by all means. It doesn't weigh much and will sure help cancel out vibes.
