how hard is it to swap gears in an 8.8 ltd. slip differential from an '88 turbocoupe? does it require any special tools? right now i have 355's and i am looking for more mileage than what they give me, so i am thinking with my setup (high-geared tranny) i will be looking for 273's or at most 308's.

Swap isn't hard, just need to pay attention to detail. You'll need a dial caliper and press or at least access to them to press on and off the pinion bearing and measure the pinon depth and backlash.

I've got a spare set of 2.73's boxed up I'd be willing to trade for those 3.55's :)
