Owned the car since new. Does not get driven much at all. Probably 1000 miles in the past three years. I have determined the fuel pump has failed. Car is very lightly modified with long tubes, off-road X, 4.10s and a VMP tune from 15 years ago. Is it ok to use the Walbro TU229HP 255lph pump instead of the, way more expensive Motorcraft stock replacement?

The first thing to figure out is if that pump is designed for a return less system.

If I were you I'd make sure that whatever you go with is a drop in replacement.

It was definitely more reasonable than the Motorcraft pump. I was somewhat concerned it might be too much pump but I found a fair number of people with fairly stock cars running it.

I use that exact Walbro on my bolt-on GT. Start ups and high RPM are much happier now.
