I think Auto Zone loans them out if you wanna save some cash. but anyway, I don't know what you call it but what I've used was a 2 piece type of compressor I guess you could say. It hooked on each side of the spring and you cranked each one down with a wrench compressing it evenly. It worked pretty good but it's nerve racking to me knowing that if it popped out it would do SERIOUS damage to you or your car, or anything else. I've had good luck getting them out. When you let it fully extend it'll usually pop out with a little encouragement. And if you're putting lowering springs back in they usually slide right in fairly easy. Good luck.
