Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying don't to it if you've got your heart set on it. But it's not going to prevent the block from cracking if it decides to crack. That seems to be a crapshoot if it will or won't.

I'm still of the opinion that internally balancing the crank is the best thing you can do for a factory block, even if it's crazy expensive.

With that kind of budget i would be into a better block. Its a catch 22.

No, I know, it's a hell of a thing.

Has your shop align-honed the block yet? If not, make sure they align-hone with the girdle and fasteners of choice in place. That's one part I disagree with in that video you posted, they (apparently) just plopped it on with (probably) Moroso bolts and let it fly.

SCAM!!! BEWARE: Fordstrokers is a guy working from a 2 car garage at his house posing as machine shop. I hired him to complete 347 rebuilt long block. The engine I received looked perfect in the outside (painted and polished). After I paid $3200 in cash and went home I discovered deposits in combustion chamber. I disassembled the engine to discover that none of the machining work was done (cleaning, balancing). The engine was full of dirt and grime. If I had fired it up it would have seized up in hours. This guy is a POS. If you have any doubts feel free to contact me. I have work order, receipt and pictures of what I received. Take my advice, spend your money somewhere else.
Have you spoken to Jim about this? What is your name or would you rather hide behind an alias?

Instead of asking people to contact you for pictures, receipts or proof, why don’t you just post them to see if it’s true or your full of ****?

I can tell you why - this guy is a scammer. This was a legitimate business that closed down. This guy working in his garage. The engine I received was painted and polished on the outside to appear as finished product. After disassembly I discovered that no actual work was done. Nothing was balanced or spaced. He just bolted the new parts I gave him on. If I tried to run the engine it would have blown it self to pieces (like yours did). I am out $3200. I am hoping to stop other people from making same mistake.

Valid point. Here are pictures of the inside of my engine after I picked it up in person from this POS. It looked good from outside. Cleaned and painted. I paid him to bore it balance it and install new internals. He had my engine for a year. After I picked it up, got it home and tried to install plugs I saw gunk inside the engine and decided to open it up. I discoveres that he did not bore, balance or clean anything. He mounted new crank and bearings and closed it back up. I paid him 3200 + parts I bought on his site.

EDIT: Dammit, caught by the nechro post bump.

It took you 2 YEARS and 4 months to post those pictures?
I would have thought if this was a serious issue, you would have posted them right away back in July.

The guy who emailed me relentlessy then cried poor and to reuse all his used parts. One of those decisions one regrets. If you are still filing the lawsuit, I am now shut down in kane county. I will say no more, as I wont put anything online with regards to the small claims court. Thanks

I hope that I can help someone avoid the pain and frustration. Either of you guys meet anyone at fordstrokers? I droped and picked up my engine and spoke with Jim and Nicole in person at their home/shop in garage in IL. They knew I have two small kids and that 3200 was a lot of money for me to spend. Knowing that and doing what they did - they are bad people and terible business.

Bro, if your kids mattered so much to use them as a tool of virtue and morality, you shouldn't have been dumping money into a racecar anyway.

If you told him to reuse your pistons when he installed a new crank and bearings then there is nothing proven by your pictures. I guess you could make the case that the pistons should have been cleaned up but then again maybe that crap wouldn't come off. Racing is a hobby for people with money that they can set on fire, if you have none then you need to start thinking about a hobby like bird watching.

I don't have a horse in this race, but if he really paid $3200 for reusing his old parts, it seems a bit high based on what the pictures show.
On the high end, Assemble and paint $600, polish crank $100, size and purchase bearing $300, purchase and fit rings $200, gaskets $150, hone $300.
Not sure what could have got it to be $3200.
