so here i am, 69 351W assembled with a federal mogul
rebuild kit and a windage tray. first the tray didn't clear the
oilpump, trimmed it. didn't clear the dipstick bump on the
pan, trimmed it.
now i'm trying to put the pan on and from the point where
the pan pivots it feels like the pan is hitting the oilpump in
the small front sump.

has anybody ever ran into this issue? this is the pan that
comes in the ford racing oilpan/pump pickup kit to put a 351W
into a fox mustang.

i can't for the life of me figure out what isn't clearing. i'm
picking up some playdough tomorrow to put in the pan and then
set the pan on to see where it's contacting.

any help would be great!

after reading fast351's website (fast351.com)
http://www.fast351.com/tech/351w.htm

he says "1) A high volume oil pump WILL NOT clear the FMS pan. If you want to run an HV pump, you must either modify the pan (which is what I did), or buy a Canton or similar pan, for many dollars more. The modifications just include cutting down the front drain bolt, and welding on a corner to the pan to clear the pump housing. It cost me $25 to get my pan welded. "

i don't think i have a high volume oilpump, but i can't be positive.
it's just a summit kit that i ordered. i suppose i'll call them and
find out WTF i got.

i'm gonna email mike (fast351) to see if he has pics of the mods.
