Smelt really bad at stop could not figure it out then I finally puty it up on a lift checked it out and it looks like there is a small crack in the cable and there is fluid leaking out of it and leaking on top of my H pipe and it stinks bad??? How is the fluid getting in there??? Car has been sitting for about two months was over seas for the airforce could this have something to do With it to..

OK where the cable goes into the trans there is a bolt that holds in the gear assembly. you have to remove cable and the part that goes into the trans and pull out the assembly and get a new one the seal is leaking internaly into the cable assembly. when you get the new assembly you will have to take off your spedo gear and put it on the new assembly. I had the same thing happen to my AOD trans.

Thanks for the reply I will have to tacle that this weekend,Im putting my 373 gears in and i have a new speedo gear to install so i will just do it then...... I take it I will have to go to the ford dealership to get this piece right...

USAF here also. Just go to any local parts store, you are looking for a vehicle speed sensor (VSS), I think mine was around $20.
I also replaced my speedo cable at the same time for another $30. Good luck, that little clip sucks
