Direction for Advancing Timing

If your using a timing light it wouldnt matter, set it and forget it

Have a lite and will use it. But just want to barely creap it up the right direction and not lose the exact spot it is at trying to figure out wich way to advance.

Use some type of white marker/paint/chalk & mark the harmonic balancer at what U want it 2 B set at...That w/make it simple & easy..Further thats how most folks do it..Also if u turn the Dizzy & the engine slows down VS speeding up U R retarding it & obviously what the reverse is...U don't have to slip up on it...
just a dumb question: if you have the right tools and can see, what difference does it make to know which way to turn it? You turn on the timing light and you twist the dizzy to get it where you want, mark the degree where you want it to be with either white out or white nail polish and then get the metal pointer to point there.
This isn't something that you can feel, you need to see it, and really can't be done without a timing light. When it takes less than a mm of movement to change between 10 and 14 degrees, do you really want to guess? If i touch it a little and it goes the wrong way, its easy to just twist back the other way. So again I don't really understand these posts unless the poster doesn't have the right equipment to do it and is going to try by feel and really screw things up.
