I would love to order a set of 5 lug 17x8.5 +26 like this in chrome finish if it isn't too late.

Also, what is the expected delivery date? I've emailed Jeff myself for the past 2 years for this with no reply. :crying:

OK folks, I just got a pm from the machinist. He wants to know
Please respond with your offset's and centerbore's.
Alex
This is really confusing. Does this mean that everyone can order different offsets or everyone has to agree on one offset for the entire run? I thought that everyone was going to have to agree...just trying to clear this up.

Also, is it too late to get in on this?

STREETFIGHTER50, I think you misunderstood me. In my post I was ONLY refering to the centerbore that we all will need on these wheels.

As far as width goes, 8.5" is the ONLY option. Really the only option we do have is the offset and the two sizes that have been thrown out are +26mm & +29.5mm.

Alex, how we gonna decide which offset to go with? FYI the +29.5mm will stick out .14" further than the +26mm.
I vote for the +29.5mm. I plan on adding 1" to the backside to make the rears 9.5" so I'd like all the room I can get.

This is updated. Everyone else needs to chime in on offset. Remember 17 x8.5, 26mm or 29.5mm offset.

Alex,

Here is the only place that I've heard of anyone using for wheel widening http://www.weldcraftwheels.com/Wide.htm He is pretty expensive though. I believe that the last time I asked about it, it was going to be $175 per wheel (for these style and 17") to get widened or narrowed, then shipping on top of that. I will try to contact him and see if he would get us a discount to do more than one set and then we can see how many might be interested. We could have Jeff ship them straight to him, then have him ship them to us to save on the shipping a little. That would need to be another thread. I'll let you know what he says.

Anyone else know of anyone else that does this?

I talked to James at Weldcraft about widening and narrowing the rims and he said that he doesn't offer group discounts due to the fact it is all labor which makes sense.

The prices to widen the wheels to 9.5-10.5 or so would be $175 per rim not including shipping. It would be the name price to narrow them to about 5-6 wide.

There was a guy looking for a set in the Classifieds and I messaged him telling him about this order. He said he wanted to get in but wanted to know if he could paypal since he doesn't have access to a fax machine. It doesn't sound like he gets on here very often so I was thinking about having him paypal me and I can fax in the order for him. If I do this and he ends up not buying them what happens since my name is on the list? Should I help him? It would give us another order on the list.

Also, can I make a post in the classifieds for a set of 5 lug cobras and explain what we are doing here or will the mods not like that?

I really want to get in on this but I'm also concerned about hacking up my Cobra. Yes, it's been hacked already (a bit)... but that was the last guy.
There are ways of doing this so that it can very easily be returned to stock. Start with the rear (real easy to return to stock), you need fox length axles in 5 lug (can get these from Mosers or use two Ranger axles) and the NorthRacecar brackets:
http://www.northracecars.com/Brakes.html (brackets only, "4 lug", far top left corner)

On the front you have two options. Switch to SN95 spindles or not. By switching to SN95 spindles you have many more brake options (which is why most are swapping to 5 lug)

If you don't want to switch spindles to make it easier to swap back, then just use Mark VIII rotors.

If you do want to swap spindles then read here:
http://www.maximummotorsports.com/store/index.php?main_page=tech_front_susp_7993to9604_spindle

No matter what you do, you aren't really "hacking the car up". All of the modifications should easily be able to be undone.

Hope this helps...and I hope you need two sets of wheels! :D

I need a little info on fitment compared to what I have. I currently have a 89 gt with cobra R brakes sn95 spindles, axles etc. and 99 cobra wheels 245s up frount and 275s out back. From what I've gathered the wheels will be wider to the outside .5" correct? I ask because the fronts now are real close to the fender and the rear rubs but I know I can change to fox axles to correct the rear but I don't want the front to go out any further.
Are you using 96-04 spindles or 94-95 spindles?

Yeah, split a set, 1 left, 1 right. Just so I am sure we are both on the same page, you will want a total of 6 wheels right (your #12 order of 4 and then an extra 2)?

Alex, do we just put the entire deposit on one card or do we have to split the deposit and each fax in a form?

Can we get some details on your plans? Sizes and where you're going to get them chromed?
I plan to go 5" on the fronts if possible. On the rear I'm debating between 9.5" for 275 MTs or 11" for 315 MTs. Obviously a mini-tub would be required for the 11" and I'm not sure I want to hack up a real cobra for that.

As far as chroming I was planning on California Chrome.
