I joined this forum to get in on this deal. When the repro '93 Cobra wheels came out, I called Wheel Replicas in Texas, and after a few calls, I was able to speak to the owner. He told me the same thing then, at least 30 sets, paid for, before they could change the center cast and do a five lug version.

My '93 Cobra has the Motorsport M-2300K kit, has for ten years now, and runs the old Motorsport '95 Cobra Rs with the Fox-specific 6.42" BS. I want to go back to a stock look, I don't want to convert my '94-'95 Cobra-spec brakes to four lug, so I bought a set of the 4 lug '93 Cobra replicas and took one to a machinist to get an idea of what it would take to convert them to five lug. Answer: the welding heat to plug the existing holes would soften the centers and possibly make them dangerous, so it really wasn't an option. So there they sit still new in the boxes, I'll probably sell them. It never occurred to me to start off a group buy on this or another forum, but I'm glad someone thought of it.

As mentioned, my car has the Motorsport Cobra brake kit, but the longer SN-95 rear axles have always bothered me and I am planning to swap them for stock-length Fox five lug axles, and make or buy a set of relocator brackets for the calipers. So I'm definitely in, for a Fox with SN-95 front and stock rear track width, in the stock silver finish. I'll drop a deposit any time we need to.

Alexandros,

Are you increasing the order with our source guy? because it looks like there are a few more orders trickling in here. Hopefully, the 30 sets will cover us. It doesn't look like Wheel Replicas is going to have to sit on any.

So will these wheels fit the Motorsport M-2300K kit?

Thanks
From what I gather so far,

Front: Yes

Rear: Will stick out too much, so you will have to switch to Fox-length five lug axles (Ranger/Aerostar/Bronco II, or aftermarket) and get a set of available relocator brackets to move the calipers in, then they will work all around. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

So where would I buy this relocator bracket? What is the "fox-length" five lug length?
This forum has goofy anti-spam rules about newbies posting URLs to other sites, and it seems I haven't been here long enough to do that. I tried to link a pic from Photobucket of my car and it wouldn't let me do that either. It's annoying for those of us who are trying to help and not spam, but I can understand it.

Northcobras(dot)com has them, may also be called North race cars, do a search and you should be able to find them. If not, PM me with your email address and I'll send the link directly to you. The brackets are $150.

I would like a set in stock silver color with offsets for 94/95 spindles and fox length axles. But my deposit and purchase would be with a c.c. let me know if that is a problem.

thanks, Kurt

I'm not really up on figuring offsets, but it seems the backspace determines what the offset is. I have a set of the four lug '93 Cobra replicas, and the backspace is exactly 5-13/16", and I have determined that a 6" backspace will work best on the front of my 2300K (SN-95) equipped '93 Cobra. So I'm down for a set with the 6" backspace, which I suppose is the 29.5mm offset.

Paypal is very flexible and convenient, it can be set up to pull money either from a checking account (with a CC backup) or directly from a CC. I use it to buy things online and have it set up to pull from my Mastercard, so it shows up on the CC statement like any other purchase. It's been awhile since I looked at what they have to offer, there may well be other options now. I recommend you go there and set yourself up, it costs nothing for you to send a payment, it only costs the seller to recieve it, like when they accept a CC payment; so they consider it a cost of doing business.

For the record....I'll take either offset. I'll just be happy to get a set of 5-lug '93 cobra rims, which before now, only two sets existed. (Silver :) )
I'm guessing you're an original owner, because not many know about those. For the record, these were factory '93 Cobra wheel prototypes drilled by Ford for the five lug pattern, and they were supposed to be what came on the '93 Cobra R. But as I recall, they didn't make the cut because they wouldn't clear the PBR calipers up front, so they used the '94 tri-bars - a wheel for a car that wasn't introduced yet. And they were exactly like the four lug stockers, so they were 7.5 inches wide and had the mile-deep backspace so they would have been in too far anyway. Because of that, if you found a set today they wouldn't be of much use on SN95 brakes, but these new ones... Different story.

Thanks, I had it right - 29.5 is the deeper backspace. I'm with several other guys here though, neither would be a deal breaker because 3.5 mm is so small - look at a ruler.

that's what I was thinking from the beginning??? How could more BS possibly make the wheel stick outside the fender?? Bottom line: the greater the BS number the further it tucks the wheel under the car. So if you have aftermarket K-member, longer front control arms, and 94+ up spindles you would want the 29.5mm BS to keep the wheels from bulging out of the front fenders.
All true, and it also gives you more tire to fender clearance on any other combination front and rear.

Alexandros - you have me down twice.

I agree that both will work just fine on a Fox, and the 3.5mm difference would be barely perceptible with the wheel on a car; but that extra 3.5mm could really help with running big tires without fender lip rub in tight Fox fenderwells, which is my reason for the 29.5mm choice. And if you want them out further, you can always run spacers on the front, rear, or both, and put them exactly where you want them.

12 to 12. This is starting to get all tingly, there hasn't been voting this close on the internet since the question was posed over on the Vortex of who was the hotter Daisy Duke, Jessica Simpson or Catherine Bach. Believe it or not, that pole ended at 149 to 149. A real nail biter.

so what can be done the necessary 1/8 spacer for those of us using the stock rear track and 94-95 spindles?

Would it be possible for you to make these Jeffo?
This is the exact combo I will be running. Currently I have the '94-'95 spindles with the SN95 rear axles, (M2300K kit) with the M-179 6.42 BS '95 Cobra R wheels.

For the '93 Cobra five lug wheels, I think the fronts will be perfect and I am planning to run a 1/8" spacer on the rears if the flipped quads aren't enough to clear the 275/40s. I got a quote from a local machine shop of $25 each to mill a set of 1/4" spacers to 1/8", it will be nice to have the choice to run the spacers if I need to.

-MJS

PS - Art, no contest - no thrill of victory and agony of defeat here. I'm just happy to have these wheels and I'd have taken a set regardless of offset.
