on the GT40 heads off a 94 cobra, how do you remove the factory shims for the valve springs?

also what is the inside diameter of the shims you use? the ones the machine shop gave me are way too small, but the factory shims go up on the valve guide. so i cant really tell what i need.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I installed a set of crane springs on a set of gt40p heads. Mine didn't have any shims under the springs but what I did have to do was get a set of locks that lower spring height by .050 and use them on the exhaust valves. This lowered the spring height down to the same height as the intakes and also kept the rockers from hitting the retainers on the exhaust valves. I guess its of a common problem with my set up. I think its caused by the gt40p heads having exhaust rotators and the crane springs don't.
If you have the regular gt40 heads they might be a little different.
Hope this helps.

Anyone know if the same problems exist with the regular cobra heads. Do they have the exhaust rotators and have the problems with the exhaust 1.7 rocker hitting the retainer....????
