My H-pipe is leaking out of the bottom of the crossover pipe (where the 2 halves slip together) and I was wondering if it is costing me horsepower, or actually helping to gain horsepower. It seems to me that it would act similar to a cut-out on a f-body, but located slightly more up stream.

My exhaust system consists of mac 1 5/8" un-equal shorties, o/r H-pipe, and 2ch flowmasters w/ turndowns.

you are probably losing a little bit but not enough worth mentioning, get it tig or mig welded at the local muffler shop, shouldn't take but may be 5 minutes

The H-pipe is completely rusted from driving the car through 3 winters, so I doubt it can be welded. Maybe header wrap would work.

I know....but I'm not real keen on working with exhaust systems and I won't have a place to work on my car for another month (garage is being used temporarily for a kitchen re-modeling). Once I get my garage back, I'll probably change it out. With my luck though, it will end up being an all day project. :(
