I trimmed the bottom of the air box so it sits on the frail rail area. I also lowered my fans as low as I could and that was enough to make it fit. Not sure what fan you have but I'm using a dual fan from a contour. If you can't get it to work I have a brand new custom cold air intake I made. Simple design,straight pipe with a 90.

Are you doing the swap in a fox? My intake tube is bent pretty tight,but you may be able to do what you said with a custom pipe and factory air box. Let me know if you need help with anything,I'm just about done with my swap.
