I have a 89 mustang computer code A9L, the problem is that when ever you pin the throttle the check engine light turns on. I checked the fuel pressure(32psi with vacum hose connected) checked timing(10 degrees) put new air filter. The car is stock except for full exaust, it runs smooth and pulls decent to it's shift point(5000rpm factory tach) without a hint of pinging. The car passes california smog no problem.
Once again pin the throttle and the check engine light turns on, lift of the throttle and it turns off.

it sounds like your Throttle Position Sensor. Check and make sure the wires are not in a bind. If everything looks ok, you might want to check voltage.
