Would removing the canister have any effect in engine performance? How about essentiality?

The reason I ask is because I broke the vac line connection on the valve, and if I can run without the canister, I would remove it completely.

Car is a daily driver

Thanks for any info,

Might be OT and you might already know this... BUT...

I wouldn't remove it. You're in CA... and we all know how lame and anal our smog laws are. From what I can recall, there's next to no reason to remove the smog pump from the system, which in turn would make me think (perhaps incorrectly), that the CC shouldn't matter either.

Anyway, it's all part of absorbing gas fumes from the tank, in addition to who knows what else. I'd say fix what's broke and forget about it. I seriously doubt it's robbing you of any power... but I'd be interested to know otherwise.
