I'm having problems with my car starting when it gets hotter. I replaced my starter. I have the 130amp altenator that I think may be the problem. When I wired the altenator, I had to run a thicker guage wire for the charging because to handle the extra current. The wire runs over the engine by the distributor so I'm thinking when the engine and therefore wire get hot, the resistance in that wire gets so hi that it fails to conduct as well as it should. My battery can also be the culprit though. It was sitting for 4 months when the car was being rebuilt. But the thing is that this only really happens when the car is hot. Would the wire from the altenator be the problem? I mean the altenator has nothing to do with the car starting right? What could be the problem? BTW, what battery should I consider buying that I can use while the car is off.....for my electric fan and stereo, and where can I buy it?
