I just installed my heads/cam (and lots of other small goodies) this weekend. Anyway, when I am driving normally...cruising....it shifts fine. But when I really step on it, it will go all the way through first, shift into 2nd and then eventually hang at like 5500 RPM or so. To get into 3rd, I have to let off the gas for a split second and then stamp on the gas again.

Any ideas?

It could be a sticky valve in your valve body or your 2-3 shift accumulator could be sticking. Go to http://www.tccoa.com/articles/tranny/index.html I remember there is a problem with the old accumulators and you need to up date them with the newer one they explain this on the website.

I'm planning on installing a shift kit (well paying someone to do it), can I just ask them to fix the accumulators? Would that do it?

Anyone else have any guesses?

Yes, they can change the accumulator piston when the do the shift kit and you can have them check the valve body to see if any valves are sticking.
