Both Jim Larocca and Joe Amato told me it has and would work. After spending a full day at downs ford we couldnt get it to work. I never found out if it was a bad pcm or what. There are some pin changes but nothing too major. Let me know how you make out
From what I have read, there are some pin changes in the PCM wire harness from '97 to '98 cars although, I haven't verified this myself.
One other thing to think of is the security system (Passive Anti-Theft System) that comes with the car. The ignition key id-code must match the code in the PATS module. The PATS module communicates with the PCM during start up. There are numerous PATS systems by Ford.
From the article above, the PATS system for the 96/97 cars is different than the 98 cars. The 98 type (B) looks like that there is a PCM ID code. This may explain why it doesn't start. If you can't get the article let me know. I have a copy.
