I was told that when ford went to the roller cams in the 5.0, they changed the cam thrust plate because the roller cam steel would eat into the older type thrust plates. Question is, are the mustang 5.0 motors the only roller cam 5.0s that have this or are other 5.0 engines equipped with these (like in Crown vic's, LTD's, Thunderbirds, etc....)? Were the mustang motors the only ones with roller cams? I know the 5.0 I'm pulling from my LX has the thrust plate I need, but I'd rather not start robbing parts off of it to put into my 408. The junkyards around here are full of the big fords with the 5.0, but the v8 stangs are scarce.

Your saying the 5.0's in the "big" cars are the same as the 5.0's in the mustangs?

The cam thrust plate is...

Along with the block, main caps, timing chain cover, crank, rods, lifters and AOD flexplate. The heads, intake, pistons, cam, water pump and timing chain are most of the differences in 5.0 and 5.0HO engines.
