All,

I just finished putting my motor back in. I put a new cam in (non-roller) so I need to do the 20 min @ 2000 RPM thing to break it in. Being it's 11:30 @ night I don't want to run it tonight out of respect for the neighbors. But I did fire it up real quick (couldn't help myself). When I started it for that brief secound, it sounded like the valves were off. I can't adjust them with the motor on as I have the mustang EFI upper intake on there. Will it hurt anything if I run the motor for the break-in with the valves off a bit? I'm not running domed pistons or anthing, so the crank isn't going to hit the valves or anything. Thanks!

Maybe the lifters havn't pumped up yet? The first 2/3 minutes can be abit rattley. The main thing is NOT to let it idle too much for the cam is splash lubed on the lifters..
