My friend bought some EBC green pads for his 98 Cobra, but when we put them on they seemed too think to both fit in the caliper and go over the rotor, anybody seen a problem like this?

I think that you were trying to say too thick...

Take the cap off your brake fluid reservoir.
Then take a C-clamp and squeeze the piston back into the caliper. Make sure to watch the collector so it doesn't over flow onto the motor.

I hope this helps.

Don't e offended if this question sounds stupid to you, but did you compress the pistons all of the way?

The fronts you can just compress. The rears have to be "screwed" back in. Get the tool from any parts store. Make sure you line up the notches to the pad when you install them (rear only)
