Should I use the spacer plate (the one between the block & bellhousing with a JW sfi Bellhousing?

When you mount the tranny and converter to the block, you should have a 1/8" gap between the converter and flywheel, before they are bolted together. If not, use the spacer to create this gap. This helps the pump stay alive. Also, before mounting the trans up put some clay on the converter pilot-nub that sticks into the back of the crankshaft- and put the converter in the flywheel holes with no tranny. Make sure you have clearance between them. This will save you alot of headache down the road.

some starter motor gears will drag or will engage too far and breakif you do not have the plate....in fact, some of these block plates have the threads for the starter bolts in them......
