I've heard stories about a cut off switch damaging EECIV computers when tech guys verify it kills the engine when thrown.

Any truth to this?

If so, what do you all do to protect your computer, electronics etc?

Thanks.

I just mounted a continous duty solenoid and batter in the trunk of my sons car. I wired it to kill all power if the lead in the inside is not grounded. This wire will go to a toggle switch wired to a ground. After thinking about the computer , radio and anything else that might do better with a constant power supply, I ran a wire from the battery side of the solenoid to the engine side. This wire now has a 20 amp fuse, but I think I will upgrade to a circuit breaker, which will reset in the event someone tries to start the car without throwing the toggle switch.

Really?

Did I get bad info from someone else who told me their 'puter fried when a tech inspector shut off his car with engine running with his cut off switch....?

Boy, that'd be great if I don't need to add some fancy extra circuitry.
