I installed some new LT's and started my 94 GT up. With just headers the car was backfiring like crazy when reved, even a little at idle. Is this a timing problem or just a lack of back pressure? Also, with the stock setup there was a small pipe the went from the throttle body to the stock h-pipe should i plug this hole or just leave it open? What does it do?

sounds like you have an exhaust leak somewhere. Verify that everything is tight.
Also that pipe needs to be hooked up to the cat/offroad pipe, there should be a bung there for it. That pipe actually comes off the smog pump to the best of my knowledge. I don't know of any that comes from the throttle body.

god luck

there are actually 2 pipes that need to be hooked up.

Their is one that goes from the EGR (which is bolted to the throttle body) to the passangers side header, and the other goes to the H-pipe to a hose that connects to the smog pump.
