How warm is an automatic transmission supposed to run at??? :confused: :confused: Does heat kill transmissions??? Is 200 to hot??

Heat is very bad both for the fluid and the tranny. You want tranny temp to be between 160-180 idealy. Get a good tranny cooler and you should be good to go.

exactly!!! heat is he enemy. that's how i blew my stock tranny. i had just a shift kit and the heat was too much with it and burned all the clutches.

tranny coolers work wounders.......if u feel the base of the shifter in ur car u'll notice that it stays alot cooler but without a tranny cooler u'll feel alot of heat generate around the foot area where the bellhousing is, and around the shifter
