I just got a new set of AFR pedestal mount 165's and the valve stem lengths vary quite a bit between the intakes and exhausts. I would like to find the lowest tip and cut the others down to match, That way the valve tips would all be exactly the same height and my geometry would be identical on all valves. If I would have to use a shim, they should all use the same shim. There is probably .040" difference in heights so my question is: Is there any problem cutting that much off of some of the other valves? I didn't know if the valve tips were hardened and if we cut them we lose that or not. If they are not surface hardened it won't be an issue. Thanks for any input!
