I live in the Knoxville area. Anybody else near to K-town? We could all hook up and scare some Hondas! ;)

This was the post that started this all. It's been over a year! I'm thinking it's time for a party!!!

How could it not be? Would you like public credit - HAPPY to do that. But wouldn't have without checking first.

No need for a public credit, but if someone asks feel free to pass my info along. Just a small tidbit in the whole scheme of things.
Someone just did --- they have a 'contact seller' button that allows direct/email contact. My intent on those (just like the headliner question) is to respond in the thread. If someone asks it, others are probably thinking about it.

Ok guys, sorry to keep you in the dark. My venture is launched.

The last of the three 'm' legal meetings will be over tomorrow but I have full support of everyone as high up food chain as I can reach.

One client meeting was already requested for later this week. As I am starting via moonlighting I'll be doing this for now early morn, launches or later in afternoons and with my extensive vacation time.

With luck I'll not be able to afford to stay at current employer very long?

This possible client has been keeping a dossier on my published work for years they told me. I think that one is ....quite likely.

LOL! LOC loan from bank has been approved and will be signed on Fri. That's the backup plan should things suddenly go south with three "m".

First meeting with that likely client/ buyer is late this afternoon. I can't wait to hear what they have in mind. I will be nearby them when I go up to the robot manufacturer's training facility in a few weeks. You'll recall when I offered my services to them to sell as a product to their customers, they weren't interested- but they did offer me free training so I can take my services to their customers directly.

My extensive vacation time this year may be taken up by the business launching. What a way to start .

Well things went south with three "m". In spite of all Mgmt fully in support of me and indicating how it will actually help not hurt the business, HR/Ethics says no-go consulting while an employee, even though what I will be doing in related but NOT what any job I've done has been.

Actually this is a relief and weight off my shoulders. The last two years of being paid to do nothing has been hell on me and my family. LOC signing is tomorrow - contingency plan moving into position.

Global Business Manager told me he told them I have the highest degree of integrity of anyone he's ever known.... (!! Woot !!) and I am no risk to the business. But the company looks at it like 'but if we had the money and could have sent him off for that training (robots) and paid for travel THEN it would be a conflict of interest.

LOL so yes nuclear engineering training would be out too then!

Nothing stopping me from leaving and DIY. Sad however as the plant manager told folks if I left it would be a risk to the entire business.

Website has been hugely praised by exec director of my industry group. Best consultant site he's ever seen. He can't recommend me +++ but can suggest folks look into my help.

First client call went great And they urgently want help. I am reaching out to others rapidly as well that expressed interest to lesser degrees as they weren't sure how serious I was.

The company morphed the firecracker under my butt into a stick of TNT. I think they fully expected me to give up the quest, resign to corporate servitude, but wifey and I are more resolved than ever.

I feel as if a great weight is off my shoulders as I can now do what I was made to do ... Go out and fix things for foundries.

Time to turn the spigot wide open.

Michael - great progress so far on offers for the Volvo! It's climbed WeLL the past couple days. And well it should. I can't wait to see it go up much higher!

"Can't see the forest for the trees". Large companies sometimes are like that. Not all that different than govt entities. Especially when they have a true HR dept. So, instead of getting to keep you and still let you do consulting, they will lose you completely. Unless you get some intervention from way high up, they won't change their mind. Heck, I'd wager HR really has no clue what you truly do and how your consulting is different.

Well, at least you are out of purgatory and know where you stand now. Full steam ahead!
