Still rolling on the original gator backs, it appears. Nice car.
That is cool, and we've talked about your Augusta history before. My family left Augusta in about August of 1972, and we took the family car, 1972 Gran Torino bought the year before. My dad was stationed in Mannheim Germany for three years, and we came back in 1975 with that car. Shipping a car back then took a month I recall, and there was a new AMC Pacer shown on the base in about 1975 that my parents considered. Whew, I'm glad that didn't become my first car. It was fine for John Denver in that one movie, but not for me."Tourist and Diplomat Sales" - note the cover of the owner's manual/materials. Frank Plumley was in the US Army stationed in Germany. Ordered the car to US specs for European delivery. Purchase price included shipping the car back to the states 2 years later AND installing the catalytic converter before shipment. The converter was not needed in Europe at the time -- he told me it was in a box in the trunk when the car was delivered. The selling dealer in Germany installed it just before the car was shipped to Augusta, GA.
