I came by to LUV the OEM backup camera in our QX56 ‘05. That is a larger SUV and the camera made visibility bin the back wonderful. But in the Lexus ES300 ‘02 it’s really not needed for me but I am also taller (5’9”) than my daughter who’s about 5’2”. She raises her seat up but, the camera needs to be USED to be possibly helpful. I think she plugs in her phone for music and turns off the backup camera. it’s a cheaper stereo and does t have CarPlay etc so each function is manual and not as automatic as Apple products.

That's the only car I've seen with steeper gearing than the geo. I turn 2500rpm at 50mph (3500 at 70, but never been that fast with it). With zero blast around town. LOL
Aftermarket gearing -- this one would have come with a 3.91 from the factory.

I think the cameras are helpful in some ways -- and not so much in others. I agree with Richard - teaching to drive WITHOUT is better. Parallel parking and backing into a parking space should not be something that people avoid because it's hard. But most drivers avoid backing if they can.

I've got a buddy in Denver -- every day, sometimes twice -- we send each other pictures of the morons on our human team who can't even manage to put a car between the lines. I mean if you can't do that, what else can't you do?

I'm not sure if it's lack of skill or a simple "screw everyone else, this is where it's landing".

Probably both.

They don’t park - they just stop driving
What you mean is that "they just stop driving" badly.

I had a coworker who retired a few years ago, who pulled into his route parking space, and most of the time his front fender was over the line into the next space. Back then parcels weren't bad and everyone backed into their space. I saw his and every time wondered, how can you pull that little Ford Escort in and not keep it between the lines?

I think I'm done. Still have to test the switch function on this replacement cluster - lights, hazards, wipers. But if there's a problem, I'll just swap in the switches/harness from the cluster in the car - I know they work.

Agree 100%. Could even wire multiple LEDs, one for parking brake, and one for each of the MC circuits. 🙃
