I recently bought a 94 Cobra and the previous owner installed a Pro-M PIH HARNESS and Fox computer at some point. I have no idea if it has a cam or a tune but it's N/A now.

I bought a J4J1 Cobra EEC recently and want to see if I can mail it to be tested and maybe tuned before I try to install it and should probably get it tuned for 24lb injectors since it has a Pro-M MAF calibrated for 24 pounders

You would have to uninstall the Pro-m harness to use any SN95 style computer. The J4J1 is calibrated for 24s with a maf that is calibrated for 19s so any sn95 stock maf could run with the j4j1.
The stock MAF meters are not calibrated to any injector size.

The v6, GT, and Cobra use the same MAF for the 94/95.

The injector calibration is done inside the EEC.

If you get a tune for the J4J1, then you need the MAF transfer function updated, not the injector settings. (If you want to use that Pro M)

So If I just buy a stock MAF from a GT, Cobra etc I can just run that with the J4J1 EEC and not worry about a tune for now?
Yes. Cheap and easy.

Depending on which version of that PIH harness you have, when you remove it you might have to repin a few wires at the connector. When you get it out, identify which generation it is, and look up the installation instructions.

I don't think you will need to repin, but check into it first to be sure.

One other thing you could do is to go to a local u-pull auto parts junk yard and get a stock GT computer for probably less than $20, you could just plug that one in with your Pro m and see if it all works and get that one tuned and sell the Cobra computer as there seems to be some actual value to those to some people.

Yeah that would work too, but I'm betting a MAF meter would be easier to find at the junkyard than a GT EEC. And the MAF is probably cheaper.

1. To answer your question, you can mail the J4J1 to other corrallers who can swap it into their cobra, see if it runs, then mail it back. Figure on paying them a few bucks.

2. What is your goal? Do you want to return the car to stock or are you wanting performance improvements? If the car is running well, maybe just save your lunch money to buy a blower or coyote.
